Oberyn Martell has been vanquished by The Mountain, which unfortunately means we won’t be seeing any more of actor Pedro Pascal in Game Of Thrones.

His death at the hands of Gregor Clegane caused an uproar among viewers the likes of which had not been seen since the Red Wedding.

Pedro had been an excellent casting choice for Oberyn, becoming a fan favourite from the minute he waved his hand over an open flame like a boss. You know the scene.

His interactions with Tyrion have been particularly poignant, and we so wanted him to get revenge for the deaths of his sister and her children. But it wasn’t to be.
